INNOVATIVE WAYS TO REUSE PLASTIC WHICH CAN BE PRACTICALLY IMPLEMENTED With the evolution of mankind, we humans are busy inventing new things everyday to make our life easier and more comfortable, one such important invention is plastic. Plastics are synthetic materials that have polymers as their main ingredient, it was invented in the year 1907 and became popular by 1960’s. Today, it is the world’s most ubiquitous material. We are aware that every great invention brings with itself some adverse effects, so did plastics. With its excessive usage and lack of proper disposal it is found everywhere. We may have came across garbage dumps consisting mostly of plastics and heard of cows and dogs engulfing plastic in search of food which is turns to be fatal. Let us draw our attention to something that is equally important and hazardous, but hardly anyone knows about it. The plastic waste in the oceans responsible for death and extinction of many exotic marine lives. The great Pacific garbage patch is a Gyre of marine debris particles in the central North Pacific Ocean caused by ocean currents. This patch consists mainly of waste plastic, fishing hooks, nets and other marine debris flowing mostly from Asian countries. Here arises a common question, “If the garbage is accumulated over particular area in Ocean why can’t we clean it”? Cleaning of this patch is not easy because over the years due to sunlight plastic broke down into micro plastics and is suspended in the water, it is so small that it shines and marine animals eat it mistaking it to be insects and eventually we humans consume it by food chain. It’s just like deadly plastic soup and cleaning even 1% requires deployment of approximately 67 ships and 1 year time. So, the best solution is to prevent plastics from entering sea by minimizing use of plastics and cleaning it to whatever extent is feasible. We can minimize the use of plastic by putting limitations on factories where low quality plastic bags are manufactured : ✍ India proposed face out of single use plastic item by 2022. ✍ Covering drains and filtering its water by grills before meeting into rivers and oceans.  ✍ Promoting use of high density polyethylene bag (above 50 micron) that does not decompose in sunlight into smaller parts. ✍ Placing dustbins and educating people living in coastal areas and urban areas through media and other possible ways because every individual action matters. However for the existing plastics, there are many ways to re use them viz:­ If we tie­up with a dhaba, where food would be provided to derelicts in exchange for certain quantity of plastics then it would be beneficial for those people in getting food as well as for our surroundings, these collected plastics would be segregated and could be effectively used for different purposes like : ✍  Artists and craftsmen can use them in making household items like decorative bulbs, chandeliers, boxes, mobile charging pocket, decorative showpieces, pet feeder, bird feeder, etc. It would be helpful in providing them job opportunity and becoming independent. ✍ Plastic bottles could be used by gardener in making greenhouse, flower pots, water sprinkler, vase and even decorative plants can be kept in offices for showcase. It can also be used as a wall decoration on an entrance of a complex or Mall or even at home as it won’t even require land and would be environmentally beneficial. ✍ Plastics in house can be used for storage purpose like tools, paintbrush in store rooms. This is widely used, but it must be noted that HDPE plastics must be used. ✍ Artists also make sculptures out of waste plastic. Sculptures are mounted showcased publicly in park or buildings as show art. It can also be kept in museums like one in Patna museum and Eco Park. It is now a tourist attraction and also helps in the generating revenue. ✍ One company has repurposed Ocean garbage into brightly coloured solar­powered beach huts along the Singapore’s East Coast Park this should be implemented and promoted even by cafes and restaurants. ✍ Another important innovation is that nowadays, plastic waste is used in construction of roads and as building material and bricks. In a nutshell, plastic uses should be reduced, and for the already existing plastics there are various ways which not only reduce waste and help environment in healing, but also provide job opportunities and are practically possible and as they are being used in some parts of the world. STAGES TO BE FOLLOWED TO BECOME A COMMERCIAL PILOT FROM BEGINING– There are some steps which need to be followed thoroughly while pursuing an airline career. Some limitations and some requirements needs to filled in aviation which includes our PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, MENTAL, THEORETICAL and obviously PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS. MEDICAL CLASS 2::- Everyone who is willing to start his/her career in aviation should take the CLASS 2 medical test as their first step. Getting medically examined by the authorised DGCA doctors is the first step to get into this field. Candidates just have to go to DGCA website, there DGCA has listed the doctor’s name with their contact number and email Id, you have to take a suitable appointment, approach the clinic for the test and get the CLASS 2 medic test done. After testing you as per requirements, if you meet the DGCA requirements then the doctor will provide you a CLASS 2 medical certificate. To get the list of DGCA approved doctors for CLASS 2 medicals. List of doctors who does CLASS 2 Medic test 2. APPLY FOR COMPUTER NUMBER::- After completing Class 2 medical, you have to apply for COMPUTER NUMBER. It is an easy process of registering yourself and then you will get an unique ID, through which you will be able to login further pages for further formalities. After logging into it you have to submit the documents as per DGCA requirements. Submitting documents is a little bit complicated as DGCA has limited the size of documents files. Then DGCA will scrutinize those files and if your documents are found correct as a next step you have to send those documents physically to DGCA office at Delhi through a speed post. Then DGCA will take even a month tk scrutinize your documents and after that they will issue you a ID which is known as COMPUTER NUMBER. 3. CREATE eGCA LOGIN::- This is a digital step which can be done easily. It is the easiest step to do. It is just logging yourself on the eGCA website. It is a registration website. You have to submit some documents as per requirements and register yourself there. 4. GROUND CLASSES::- There are some subjects to be read thoroughly and of which you should have thorough knowledge. You need to have knowledge about many topics and subjects related to your career before getting a license. The subjects are:- ● NAVIGATION ● METEOROLOGY ● AIR REGULATIONS ● TECHNICAL GENERAL ● TECHNICAL SOECIFIC You have to take ground classes of these subjects to clear the DGCA exam easily. Some people stay at home and study by themselves and they do clear the examinations, but preferably you should take ground classes of these subjects. There are many coaching institutes which teach these subjects. You can go to any institute and get thorough knowledge about these important subjects. 5. CLEARING EXAMS BY DGCA::- As soon as you are done with your ground classes, you should apply for DGCA examinations which are conducted online in almost every city by DGCA every three months. Almost all the main cities have centres for this examination. There is a certain amount of fees which you have to pay to sit in this examination. There are no limitations on attempting this examination, you can apply for multiple times. 6. MEDICAL CLASS 1::- This is the highest and toughest level of test you have to clear in medicals. It is the highest level of certificate in reference of which you will get your COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE. After done with CLASS 2 medical and all of DGCA examinations you have to apply for CLASS 1 medicals. This is only done at AIR FORCE HOSPITALS and some PRIVATE HOSPITALS. FLYING TRAINING::- Only after getting the CLASS 1 certificate do you go for flying training. It is unreasonable and foolish of them to first do their flying training and then apply for CLASS 1 medical. Remember you can be a pilot only when you have a CLASS 1 medical certificate and flying training costs approx. 40 lakhs INR, so after done with your training if you fail in meeting the requirements of CLASS 1 medical then you will not be able to become a commercial pilot and your whole money will be wasted. BLACK FUNGUS Mucormycosis is commonly known by the of Black fungus, it was previously known as zygomycosis because it has characters similar to the class zygomycetes of kingdom fungi such as cell wall made up of chitin, method of asexual reproduction, gametangial copulation, diploid and multinucleated(coenocytic) body and unbranched mycelium (a group of hyphae). Some of the members of class zygomycetes are Rhizopus, mucor/pinmold, that’s why the disease is named as mucormycosis. As the name of the disease is revealing, it is a fungal infection caused by the fungi called mucormycetes. It belongs to the kingdom: fungi, phylum: Mucoromycota, order: Mucorales, family: Mucoraceae and genus: Mucor. https://foxfoster.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Virus-66101-1.mp4 HISTORY OF BLACK FUNGUS :- The very first case of the mucormycosis was reported in the year 1855. Later on, the disease was reported to be found in lungs in the year 1876 by Furbringer. After several researches and studies, it was in the year 1943, the disease was reported in three cases including severe sinus, brain and eye involvement in association with the diabetes. Afterwards, the disease had been reported during natural disasters. Until the half of the 20th century, the disease was treated using potassium iodide. The survival was better in those who were getting medical treatment along with the surgery. It affects less than 1.7 per million population each year. It is rare but is 80 times more widespread in India. CAUSE OF BLACK FUNGUS: The fungal infection is caused by the fungi called Mucormycetes. The maximum number of cases is due to the Rhizopus and Mucor. We can come in contact with this while eating contaminated food, touching the articles responsible for the development of fungus like soil or by inhalation of the mold spore or a group of molds known as mucormycosis. It can also enter through the cuts or wounds present on the skin and may also be present in the decomposed organic matters like manure, rotten fruits and vegetables. Who may be the next victim? Everyday we are exposed to large number of infectious diseases. But, only a few of them get exposure to the disease. Why? It’s because of the fact that our body is able to defend itself from most of the foreign agents and this overall ability of the host to fight the disease‐ causing organisms, conferred by the immune system is called immunity. Persons having less immunity or you can say one with weak immune system may be at risk or those having the health condition like diabetes, cancer, etc. Mainly the COVID‐19 patients are fighting severe condition of mucormycosis due to their less ability to fight from the disease. According to the reports, there were 7,250 infected, 219 deaths in India due to the Black fungus as on 21st May, 2021 and the graph is increasing day by day. Patients taking immunosuppressant medications or one with comorbidities to fight off the pathogens are more prone to this fungal infection. SYMPTOMS OF BLACK FUNGUS: ‐ The infection generally begins with the nose or mouth and then reaches the central nervous system through the eyes. It is not a contagious disease. The symptoms mainly depend upon the site of infection including fever, headache or one‐sided eye pain, cough, runny nose, loss of smell, shortness of breath, diarrhea, blood in stool, tummy ache, vomiting, nausea, blood clot inside a blood vessel, swelling on one side of the face, sinus congestion, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, chest pain, one eye may look bulging out and swollen, vision may also be blurred. Severe infection occurs in those with serious medical condition like cancer, AIDS or HIV, diabetes (not under control), organ transplant, use of steroid in the long term, addiction of drug, poor nutrition, etc. Depending upon the site of infection mucormycosis is classified into six types: ‐ Lungs (pulmonary): ‐ Mainly in people with cancer or an organ transplant. Sinuses and brain (rhinocerebral): ‐ Commonly in those with high diabetes or one with a history of kidney transplant. Stomach and intestine (gastrointestinal): ‐ Mostly among premature and low birth weight infants having less ability to fight infection. Skin (cutaneous): ‐ Generally in people with leukaemia (is a group of blood cancer that usually begins in the bone marrow), HIV, high diabetesor one who uses drug injection. Widespread: ‐ spread of infection to other parts or organs of body through the blood. Less commonly affected parts. Diagnosis and Treatment of Black Fungus: ‐ Diagnosis is by biopsy (a medical test commonly performed by the surgeon to examine the extent or presence of a particular disease). The doctor will ask your medical history and you will be examined physically or MRI, CT scans can be conducted to know which organ or tissue is infected by the fungus. If you have a history of sinus, then doctor will take a sample of fluid from your nose or throat and based upon it, your treatment will be started. The treatment is mainly done with Amphotericin B. Amphotericin B is given in the vein for the first 14 days, and afterwards if the patient is recovered then is treated with pills but if the patient is not recovered then Amphotericin B is continued for some more days. In case, it becomes very serious then the doctor may recommend you a surgical debridement (surgery for removing the infected tissue to improve the healing potential) in order to stop the fungus from spreading to other parts of the body. Complications of black fungus: ‐ According to the researchers, 56% people die with mucormycosis. But it depends on the organ or part which is affected. In severe cases it may lead to blindness, nerve damage, blood clots. HOW TO BECOME A COMMERCIAL PILOT IN INDIA? This one is all about the Second method to become a pilot in India i.e., CONVENTIONAL PILOT PROGRAMME. For CADET PILOT PROGRAMME i have already given all the information on How to become a commercial pilot in India?| What is Cadet pilot programme? 1.CONVENTIONAL PILOT PROGRAMME– ● Eligibility::- 1. You should be a citizen of India. 2. You need to be Class 12th pass with Maths and physics or its equivalent. If you have taken Arts and Commerce in your 12th then you need to clear Maths and physics from an open University, the most common University where the most people go is NIOS. It is perfectly allowed and perfectly legal; it will not affect your career in any way in your future. Just passing marks are required for Maths and physics and same for 12th marks. 3. If anybody is doing Diploma, then you should have to give a certificate of equivalence to DGCA which tells DGCA that you are equivalent to 12th pass. 4. You should be medically fit. You should have CLASS 1 Medical certificate to get the license ● CLASS 2 MEDICAL::- It is needed at the time when you start your CPL training through any flying institute. This certificate is given by the DGCA designated doctors after full required checkups. List of doctors who does CLASS 2 Medic test ● CLASS 1 MEDICAL::- It is done after getting CLASS 2 Medical certificate. It is done by the Air Force initially, it can also be done bymany private hospitals. You can only start your aviation career only after you make sure that you are medically fit. List of doctors or organisations who do CLASS 1 Medical test 5. You have to clear DGCA exams, conducted by DGCA (Directorate general of Civil Aviation). DGCA regulates all the Aviation operations in India. It is the regulatory body of Aviation which works under the Central ministry of Civil Aviation. So, you have to clear the exams and should have experience of 200 hours of flying. ● About::- It is basically the Candidate personally clears all checks, all examinations, takes training as per DGCA requirements and after passing all the requirements by themselves, they apply for jobs as per vacancies. ● How to get CPL (Commercial pilot license) through Conventional way::- After passing 12th, you have to prepare for the DGCA examination either on your own or by attending classes. Before sitting in exam you have to apply for COMPUTER NUMBER. It is basically a Role no. Which DGCA provides you for your examination and this COMPUTER NUMBER will be your personal ID for your whole career. It will not change. Then you have to clear the DGCA exams. You can clear the exams after your flying training or before your flying training. Most of the people first clear the examination then go for their practical training. There are five subjects in which you have to clear your exam. These are NAVIGATION, TECHNICAL, METEOROLOGY, AIR REGULATIONS, and TECHNICAL APECIFIC. Exams are all Multiple choice questions. These exams are done at DGCA exam centers. DGCA conducts the exam four Times in a year. Passing marks is 70%. There is one more exam which you have to clear i.e., the RTR exam which is conducted by WPC, a government body. This RTR examination is conducted every two months i.e., six times in a year. So, all in all we have six exams to clear. Out of six subjects NAVIGATION and TECHNICAL are vast one, you should take classes of these subjects to clear your exams. You can appear for DGCA exams infinite times. There is no limit on how many times you attempt the examination. Exams are valid for five years. So, before five years of clearance of the exam, you have to submit your all peppers to DGCA to issue you the CPL. Once you have cleared the exam with DGCA, then you should proceed towards your flying school. After getting admitted in a flying school, your school will issue you a SPL called STUDENT PILOT LICENSE, this license is issued by the flying club itself after the candidate clears their oral or required exams. Basically, this is the license which allows you to fly those small trainee aircrafts. You have to fly for 200 hours as per DGCA requirement. Out of 200 hours 185 hours will be done on SINGLE ENGINE AIRCRAFT, 15 hours will be done on MULTI ENGINE AIRCRAFT and there are few more hours which will be done on SIMULATORS. All in all once you clear those requirements, then your flying school will help you to gatherall your documents. You will submit those documents to DGCA, then DGCA will issue you COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE. To get an idea about flying schools you must read my other blogs. After getting your CPL, you are then eligible to apply for airline vacancies, so, after getting your license you have to wait for vacancies. Meanwhile you can study at home, gain more and more knowledge and you can prepare for something known as ATPL. ATPL is the next higher category of license. It is required when you become a CAPTAIN. So, sit at home and wait for airline vacancies to come. Each airline will always post their vacancies related information in their career section. You should always look through the career section and when vacancies come then apply for it and go through the airline selection process. After got selected you will do your TYPE RATING. TYPE RATING is basically training to learn how to fly bigger aircrafts. TYPE RATING can be done by own before joining any airline or after joining the airline. After doing your TYPE RATING and some other formalities, you will be released as a FIRST OFFICER and you will start your career as a pilot. ● It’s cost::- It is usually cheaper than the CADET PILOT PROGRAMME. Challenges of online classes!! Education and Healthcare facilities – these two are the prime pillars of growth and development of a country. The COVID­19 Pandemic has exposed loopholes in both these sectors in most of the countries. While most of the jobs have shifted to ‘Work from Home’ status, there has been a major shift in the education sector as well. The offline classes in almost all schools, colleges and other educational institutions have come to a halt. The term ‘ONLINE CLASSES’ was not known and as famous as it is now. Mostly the educational institutions are adopting this method of teaching and learning these days. Online education has revolutionized the education system. New Learning techniques, animations, videography, recorded lectures have allowed the students to avail the facilities to a better learning platform. The process of understanding through videos is much faster than listening to teacher in class as you get a visual representation of what actually is being taught. Nobody knew that studying can be done write by sitting on your table in front of your laptop. However, just as every coin has two sides, there are lots of challenges to this new trend of online classes. There has been a lack of skilled designers, animators, video editors to make proper videos and lecture recordings. A majority of teachers being a bit aged find it difficult to cope up with teaching on a laptop rather than the traditional chalk and board. As a result, they just tend to read out from pdf’s and send it to the students to learn themselves. Most of the students also face difficulty to attend online lectures due too poor network connectivity issues. This is generally observed among students in rural areas. Student mischiefs, that were common during offline classes, were a bit of mood refresher and mood changer, though it was always troublesome for teachers. In this online mode however, the mischiefs and pranks have taken a greater toll and actually affected many online lectures. The educational institutions have tried too put it on control. Still, it is found in many places, the camera and mic being left on by accident, and private conversations being leaked. From the student’s perspective of view in India, the education system has failed miserably. Educational institutions have failed to exploit the advantages of online teaching learning process. The students find themselves in vain even when they are securing a high marks because others have secured much higher. Hopes are being lost and the lectures are being continuously monotonous. Among these difficult times, many students have been undergoing mental health issues. However, the schools and colleges are just concerned with the completion of the courses rather than the overall development of the student. The students are being burdened with assignments all the week. Practicality of the lectures have been reduced to null and void. The practical experiments and laboratories that provided the scope for testing their learning are now reduced to just watching videos and writing assignments. Deadlines are being overlapped and there is very less free time. It is a myth that online classes mean students get a lot of free time. Cadet pilot programme Conventional pilot programme 1. Now, after your all checks you are fully employed with the airline, they send you for your standard operating procedure training (SOP training) in the airline followed by your supernumerary flights and your supervised line flying after which you released as a first officer in that airline and that’s when you are fully released as a first officer fully employed with the airline and flying as the first officer in the airline. This is what a Cadet pilot programme does. ● Advantages of a Cadet pilot programme:– 1. You are prepound for the decision of airline employment. 2. Orientation – means Cadet programme right from your CPL orient you for flying procedures to the company you joined it. 3. Makes the course more easy and streamlined. ● It’s cost::- It is really very expensive. Though it gives the employment guarantee but it is way too expensive, in India many Cadet pilot programmes cost around 85 Lakhs INR and many Cadet pilot programmes cost around more than a Crore. ● Should you go for the Cadet pilot programme?
