Bioplastics

Innovative ways to reuse plastic which can be practically implemented.

INNOVATIVE WAYS TO REUSE PLASTIC WHICH CAN BE PRACTICALLY IMPLEMENTED With the evolution of mankind, we humans are busy inventing new things everyday to make our life easier and more comfortable, one such important invention is plastic. Plastics are synthetic materials that have polymers as their main ingredient, it was invented in the year 1907 and became popular by 1960’s. Today, it is the world’s most ubiquitous material. We are aware that every great invention brings with itself some adverse effects, so did plastics. With its excessive usage and lack of proper disposal it is found everywhere. We may have came across garbage dumps consisting mostly of plastics and heard of cows and dogs engulfing plastic in search of food which is turns to be fatal. Let us draw our attention to something that is equally important and hazardous, but hardly anyone knows about it. The plastic waste in the oceans responsible for death and extinction of many exotic marine lives. The great Pacific garbage patch is a Gyre of marine debris particles in the central North Pacific Ocean caused by ocean currents. This patch consists mainly of waste plastic, fishing hooks, nets and other marine debris flowing mostly from Asian countries. Here arises a common question, “If the garbage is accumulated over particular area in Ocean why can’t we clean it”? Cleaning of this patch is not easy because over the years due to sunlight plastic broke down into micro plastics and is suspended in the water, it is so small that it shines and marine animals eat it mistaking it to be insects and eventually we humans consume it by food chain. It’s just like deadly plastic soup and cleaning even 1% requires deployment of approximately 67 ships and 1 year time. So, the best solution is to prevent plastics from entering sea by minimizing use of plastics and cleaning it to whatever extent is feasible. We can minimize the use of plastic by putting limitations on factories where low quality plastic bags are manufactured : ✍ India proposed face out of single use plastic item by 2022. ✍ Covering drains and filtering its water by grills before meeting into rivers and oceans.  ✍ Promoting use of high density polyethylene bag (above 50 micron) that does not decompose in sunlight into smaller parts. ✍ Placing dustbins and educating people living in coastal areas and urban areas through media and other possible ways because every individual action matters. However for the existing plastics, there are many ways to re use them viz: If we tieup with a dhaba, where food would be provided to derelicts in exchange for certain quantity of plastics then it would be beneficial for those people in getting food as well as for our surroundings, these collected plastics would be segregated and could be effectively used for different purposes like : ✍  Artists and craftsmen can use them in making household items like decorative bulbs, chandeliers, boxes, mobile charging pocket, decorative showpieces, pet feeder, bird feeder, etc. It would be helpful in providing them job opportunity and becoming independent. ✍ Plastic bottles could be used by gardener in making greenhouse, flower pots, water sprinkler, vase and even decorative plants can be kept in offices for showcase. It can also be used as a wall decoration on an entrance of a complex or Mall or even at home as it won’t even require land and would be environmentally beneficial. ✍ Plastics in house can be used for storage purpose like tools, paintbrush in store rooms. This is widely used, but it must be noted that HDPE plastics must be used. ✍ Artists also make sculptures out of waste plastic. Sculptures are mounted showcased publicly in park or buildings as show art. It can also be kept in museums like one in Patna museum and Eco Park. It is now a tourist attraction and also helps in the generating revenue. ✍ One company has repurposed Ocean garbage into brightly coloured solarpowered beach huts along the Singapore’s East Coast Park this should be implemented and promoted even by cafes and restaurants. ✍ Another important innovation is that nowadays, plastic waste is used in construction of roads and as building material and bricks. In a nutshell, plastic uses should be reduced, and for the already existing plastics there are various ways which not only reduce waste and help environment in healing, but also provide job opportunities and are practically possible and as they are being used in some parts of the world. It only requires positive approach and individual efforts to turn it into a wonderful opportunity that has no drawbacks. Thanks For Reading Ashish kumar Blog writer View Our Services

BLACK FUNGUS Mucormycosis is commonly known by the of Black fungus, it was previously known as zygomycosis because it has characters similar to the class zygomycetes of kingdom fungi such as cell wall made up of chitin, method of asexual reproduction, gametangial copulation, diploid and multinucleated(coenocytic) body and unbranched mycelium (a group of hyphae). Some of the members of class zygomycetes are Rhizopus, mucor/pinmold, that’s why the disease is named as mucormycosis. As the name of the disease is revealing, it is a fungal infection caused by the fungi called mucormycetes. It belongs to the kingdom: fungi, phylum: Mucoromycota, order: Mucorales, family: Mucoraceae and genus: Mucor. https://foxfoster.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Virus-66101-1.mp4 HISTORY OF BLACK FUNGUS :- The very first case of the mucormycosis was reported in the year 1855. Later on, the disease was reported to be found in lungs in the year 1876 by Furbringer. After several researches and studies, it was in the year 1943, the disease was reported in three cases including severe sinus, brain and eye involvement in association with the diabetes. Afterwards, the disease had been reported during natural disasters. Until the half of the 20th century, the disease was treated using potassium iodide. The survival was better in those who were getting medical treatment along with the surgery. It affects less than 1.7 per million population each year. It is rare but is 80 times more widespread in India. CAUSE OF BLACK FUNGUS: The fungal infection is caused by the fungi called Mucormycetes. The maximum number of cases is due to the Rhizopus and Mucor. We can come in contact with this while eating contaminated food, touching the articles responsible for the development of fungus like soil or by inhalation of the mold spore or a group of molds known as mucormycosis. It can also enter through the cuts or wounds present on the skin and may also be present in the decomposed organic matters like manure, rotten fruits and vegetables. Who may be the next victim? Everyday we are exposed to large number of infectious diseases. But, only a few of them get exposure to the disease. Why? It’s because of the fact that our body is able to defend itself from most of the foreign agents and this overall ability of the host to fight the disease‐ causing organisms, conferred by the immune system is called immunity. Persons having less immunity or you can say one with weak immune system may be at risk or those having the health condition like diabetes, cancer, etc. Mainly the COVID‐19 patients are fighting severe condition of mucormycosis due to their less ability to fight from the disease. According to the reports, there were 7,250 infected, 219 deaths in India due to the Black fungus as on 21st May, 2021 and the graph is increasing day by day. Patients taking immunosuppressant medications or one with comorbidities to fight off the pathogens are more prone to this fungal infection. SYMPTOMS OF BLACK FUNGUS: ‐ The infection generally begins with the nose or mouth and then reaches the central nervous system through the eyes. It is not a contagious disease. The symptoms mainly depend upon the site of infection including fever, headache or one‐sided eye pain, cough, runny nose, loss of smell, shortness of breath, diarrhea, blood in stool, tummy ache, vomiting, nausea, blood clot inside a blood vessel, swelling on one side of the face, sinus congestion, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, chest pain, one eye may look bulging out and swollen, vision may also be blurred. Severe infection occurs in those with serious medical condition like cancer, AIDS or HIV, diabetes (not under control), organ transplant, use of steroid in the long term, addiction of drug, poor nutrition, etc. Depending upon the site of infection mucormycosis is classified into six types: ‐ Lungs (pulmonary): ‐ Mainly in people with cancer or an organ transplant. Sinuses and brain (rhinocerebral): ‐ Commonly in those with high diabetes or one with a history of kidney transplant. Stomach and intestine (gastrointestinal): ‐ Mostly among premature and low birth weight infants having less ability to fight infection. Skin (cutaneous): ‐ Generally in people with leukaemia (is a group of blood cancer that usually begins in the bone marrow), HIV, high diabetesor one who uses drug injection. Widespread: ‐ spread of infection to other parts or organs of body through the blood. Less commonly affected parts. Diagnosis and Treatment of Black Fungus: ‐ Diagnosis is by biopsy (a medical test commonly performed by the surgeon to examine the extent or presence of a particular disease). The doctor will ask your medical history and you will be examined physically or MRI, CT scans can be conducted to know which organ or tissue is infected by the fungus. If you have a history of sinus, then doctor will take a sample of fluid from your nose or throat and based upon it, your treatment will be started. The treatment is mainly done with Amphotericin B. Amphotericin B is given in the vein for the first 14 days, and afterwards if the patient is recovered then is treated with pills but if the patient is not recovered then Amphotericin B is continued for some more days. In case, it becomes very serious then the doctor may recommend you a surgical debridement (surgery for removing the infected tissue to improve the healing potential) in order to stop the fungus from spreading to other parts of the body. Complications of black fungus: ‐ According to the researchers, 56% people die with mucormycosis. But it depends on the organ or part which is affected. In severe cases it may lead to blindness, nerve damage, blood clots. Due to the blood clot inside a blood vessel, there is a loss of blood supply to the surrounding tissues leading to the death of these tissues. Challenges of online teaching and learning process in pandemic.

Challenges of online classes!! Education and Healthcare facilities – these two are the prime pillars of growth and development of a country. The COVID19 Pandemic has exposed loopholes in both these sectors in most of the countries. While most of the jobs have shifted to ‘Work from Home’ status, there has been a major shift in the education sector as well. The offline classes in almost all schools, colleges and other educational institutions have come to a halt. The term ‘ONLINE CLASSES’ was not known and as famous as it is now. Mostly the educational institutions are adopting this method of teaching and learning these days. Online education has revolutionized the education system. New Learning techniques, animations, videography, recorded lectures have allowed the students to avail the facilities to a better learning platform. The process of understanding through videos is much faster than listening to teacher in class as you get a visual representation of what actually is being taught. Nobody knew that studying can be done write by sitting on your table in front of your laptop. However, just as every coin has two sides, there are lots of challenges to this new trend of online classes. There has been a lack of skilled designers, animators, video editors to make proper videos and lecture recordings. A majority of teachers being a bit aged find it difficult to cope up with teaching on a laptop rather than the traditional chalk and board. As a result, they just tend to read out from pdf’s and send it to the students to learn themselves. Most of the students also face difficulty to attend online lectures due too poor network connectivity issues. This is generally observed among students in rural areas. Student mischiefs, that were common during offline classes, were a bit of mood refresher and mood changer, though it was always troublesome for teachers. In this online mode however, the mischiefs and pranks have taken a greater toll and actually affected many online lectures. The educational institutions have tried too put it on control. Still, it is found in many places, the camera and mic being left on by accident, and private conversations being leaked. From the student’s perspective of view in India, the education system has failed miserably. Educational institutions have failed to exploit the advantages of online teaching learning process. The students find themselves in vain even when they are securing a high marks because others have secured much higher. Hopes are being lost and the lectures are being continuously monotonous. Among these difficult times, many students have been undergoing mental health issues. However, the schools and colleges are just concerned with the completion of the courses rather than the overall development of the student. The students are being burdened with assignments all the week. Practicality of the lectures have been reduced to null and void. The practical experiments and laboratories that provided the scope for testing their learning are now reduced to just watching videos and writing assignments. Deadlines are being overlapped and there is very less free time. It is a myth that online classes mean students get a lot of free time. On the other hand, it’s very strainful for the student itself to continuously sit in front of screen for hours and then coping up with the writings. Self study has been lost in this part. CONCLUSION: The online teaching learning process has a wide scope in the future. It’s an inevitable revolution in the education sector. However, both students and teachers should cooperate with each other and make this teaching learning process a much better one than its now. However, with the present scenario, the online mode of education is far away from being the new ‘normal’ in the field of education. Thanks for reading Nikhil Kumar BlogWriter View Our Services

Corona virus and Election | The hypothetical Government.

Corona virus vs Election, who won? At the time of writing this, there are 220 countries and territories around the world that has reported a total of 154,420,900 coronavirus cases, 3,230,355 deaths and 131,870,413 recoveries as of 4 May, 2021 all over the world. It has affected public as well as private sector all over the world and the democracy is also not untouched with this. Elections were held during the pandemic and so the suffering is increased exponentially. According to reports, largest number of confined cases are in United States with 33,231,971 cases. Many countries have taken measures to slow down the spread of SARS‐COV‐2, the virus responsible for COVID‐19. The measures taken by the government such as wearing masks, social distancing, all were repeatedly flouted during rallies, public meetings, etc. India has now become the second worst‐affected country by COVID‐19 in the world. It has a total of 3,68,060 new cases as of 2 May, 2021. Situation in India According to the studies, there was a rapid increase in COVID cases since 15 March and onwards in many states including the poll‐ bound states. Our honorable Prime Minister had called a meeting of all Chief Ministers on March 17 via video conferencing over the recent surge in COVID‐19 cases across India. India had 2,19,262 active cases of COVID‐19 as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare till that date. Also, the state governments had given guidelines to restrict gatherings. With an aim to vaccinate maximum number of eligible people against Covid19, India on Sunday launched the four‐day‐long ‘Tika Utsav’ or vaccination festival. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called ‘Tika Utsav’ the beginning of the second big war against corona but it failed in the very first day as there was lack of vaccines in the country itself. But it was helpful as more than one lakh people were being vaccinated on a daily basis. Inspite of all these measures, all rules were broken during the continuation of rallies, meetings in the state where polls were recently held. Elections were held in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. HOW THE COVID‐19 HAS AFFECTED THE POLL‐BOUND STATES? ASSAM The Government of Assam had confirmed a total of 89,468 positive cases with 67,641 people being recovered, 234 deaths and three migrations in the state as of 3 May 2021. KERALA There had been 15,33,984 confirmed cases, test positivity rate was 24.5% with 12,44,3001(81.12%) recoveries and 5,259 deaths as of 27 April 2021. On 29 April 2021, the state had reported the largest single day spike with 38,607 new cases. As of 2 May 2021, there were 31,959 new cases. PUDUCHERRY There were only 19 new cases in the union territory on 1 March, 2021. The cases stood to 313 on 13 April,2021. The peak of graph went to 1,360 new cases as on 2 May, 2021. TAMIL NADU The state had registered only 470 new cases on 1 March, 2021 which became 5,715 cases on 13 April. Tamil Nadu on 2 May, 2021 reported a all‐time single day spike of 20,768 new COVID‐19 cases making the total number of cases 12,07,112 while 14,346 deaths and 153 fatalities. WEST BENGAL General election to the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal were held between 27 March to 29 April in 8 phases. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP continued rallies and meetings, on the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also continued to attend public meeting, rallies even after getting a leg injury in her constituency Nandigram. On 1 March, 2021 the state had registered only 200 new cases. There were total 17,501 new cases as on 3 May, 2021. We can see from the data, there is a sharp increase in COVID cases due to the elections. WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF THESE ELECTIONS? As you can see, due to these elections, the rallies and public meetings were conducted and as a result the number of COVID cases increased exponentially and so the lockdown will attack the poor’s livelihood, the night curfews and restrictions will again attack directly on the economy as the Goods and Service Tax (GST) is dropped and, the labour class will again leave the city due to the absence of livelihood. Especially the poor who earn on a daily for their livelihood will die due to absence of work. The condition has gone worst as several people are loosing their lives not due to corona instead, they are dying due to hunger. It has affected the health and infrastructure, there is a shortage of oxygen‐ the lifesaving element. The hospitals are full with patients, many are dying as there is a lack of medical oxygen. There is a shortage of oxygen in the country. There is a lack of vaccines also and so the decision to export vaccines to other countries has proved to be very wrong. India has exported 645.26 lakh doses to the countries UK, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Myanmar so far. HOW CAN YOU HELP PEOPLE DURING THIS PANDEMIC? One must understand the cost of lives being lost during this pandemic situation. And don’t be selfish, help others; you can save the life of an innocent. Here are some suggestions which you can do to help others: Make Donation to charity funds if you have extra money. You can volunteer virtually. Keep children learning. You can create awareness among people by giving the knowledge about facts and myths about COVID because many people don’t want to help others due to the myth Keep yourself connected to people and support them emotionally. It is a must for the situation we are facing right now. At the end, I would like to say please take care of yourselves by following the rules like wearing mask, maintain social distancing, avoid going outside and washing hands frequently. Do remember that you are very precious to your family and friends. “Unity and cooperation is the right choice for the international community in the face of

Through TV program cartoon we have to aware our children. If they know about this things in childhood they will be saved from being addicted. Overall conclusion: Today everyone use phone and internet and they don’t know about positive and negative side of it. They don’t have any training. Due to all they get addicted to phone and internet. They caught by web. Government, media, school and parents should make children aware for this. If they aware they’ll be saved. Thanks For Reading

can technology help to reduce poverty?

CAN TECHNOLOGY REDUCE POVERTY? IF YES, HOW? IF NOT, WHY NOT? Before going further, let’s first understand, what is Poverty? What are it’s cause? What are the consequences? Poverty‐ This is the most difficult challenges faced globally. Poverty is the state of not having enough income or material possessions for the basic needs of a person. It is about a “minimum” subsistence level of living rather than a “reasonable” level of living. It includes social, political and economic elements. Poverty trends in India and the world is estimated with the concept of poverty line. As of 2019, most people on the planet live in poverty: 85% live on less than $30 per day, two‐thirds live on less than $10 per day, and 10% live on less than $1.90 per day (extreme poverty). CAUSES OF POVERTY There is a number of causes for the widespread poverty across the world. These are: ‐ Colonial Past Increasing Population Lack of Education and Literacy Corruption Limited resources Lack of jobs CONSEQUENCES OF POVERTY Increased crime Unemployment Poor health / malnutrition Illiteracy Landlessness Now, what is the solution to this problem? Removal of poverty has been one of the major challenges faced on a global level and so, the Indian government has taken some anti‐poverty measures, which is mainly based on two planks: Promotion of economic growth. Targeted anti‐poverty programs. Some of the anti‐poverty measures are: ‐ National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) 2005 was passed in September 2005. It aims to guarantee the ‘right to work’ by providing at least 100 days of wage employment. National Food for Work Programme (NFWP) was launched in the year 2004 in 150 most backward districts of the country. This Programme is open for all rural poor who have the desire to do manual unskilled work and are in need of wage employment. Prime Minister Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) was started in the year 1993. It aims to create self‐employment opportunities for educated unemployed youth. Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) was launched in 1995. It aims to create self‐employment opportunities in rural areas and small towns. Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) was launched in the year 2000. The aim of this programme is to provide food to millions of the poorest families. Are these anti‐poverty programs sufficient and successful enough in removing poverty?  The answer is no. Although, poverty rate has declined but still a large portion of our population lives in poverty. Many schemes and programmes have been implemented to remove poverty but there is not any systematic attempt to know exactly about who are in poverty and what are their needs. Also, the government has not committed to support an individual. The resources allocated are limited. These are the limitations. Technology can change the lives of the poor by furnishing and empowering them. It is one of the most effective solutions of poverty as it gives several opportunities to end poverty. Here are the points,  how the use of technology can end poverty: ‐ Improves the value of the service applied‐ With the help of technology, the quality of the output will increase and as a result, the earnings will also increase. Reduces the manufacturing cost as well as time‐ As a result, the poor has access to the goods and services Increases knowledge‐ Lack of proper knowledge is one of the major causes of the poverty. By using technologies such as television, internet the poor has access to quality education, they can also learn new skills for free. Increases funds for the poor‐ Most trust uses internet for the collection of funds in order to support the needy for their better lives and better future. Due to lack of information and communication, there is a large gap between the rich and the poor. Technology has made it possible for the poor to get information and also they can communicate to any part of the world. Increases the production rate‐ Small farmers often suffer from low agricultural yields due to the traditional method of farming. But , the technology has made it possible for them to know about modern methods of farming and hence the production rate is increasing. Saves many life‐ The poor population is mostly affected by the natural disasters like flood, earthquakes, tsunami, etc. The use of social media and mobile phones has helped in saving the lives by giving high alert about these natural disasters. Helps to earn money easily‐ By using social media like youtube, Instagram, tik‐tok, etc. one can earn easily by sharing photos, videos, news and other media. Improves the health‐ In rural areas, there is a lack of hospitals and other health facilities. Patients can meet the doctors in virtual mode. Internet gives us immediate information related to a particular health condition and also the treatment plans. We can say that the technology is sufficient in removing all the major causes of poverty. But, it has some disadvantages as well. What are the disadvantages? In simple words, it is making us lazy. Let’s see, how. Nowadays, as we are totally dependent on technology. So, we don’t need to and we don’t want to think much even if we are doing small calculation. The aim of technology is mainly to reduce the human effort, which has resulted in the replacement of human by machines and as a result, it is creating unemployment‐the major problem faced by today’s youth. The use of technology in companies is reducing the cost as well as time and hence money also. Major part of the population depends on technology for each and every thing, some of us can’t even imagine our lives without it. Many of us share our personal information on the internet, which results in cyber crimes. It leads to the social isolation, reduces our creativity, skills, etc. “Technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master.” Thanks for reading

Is privatization good for India ? India and privatization.

INDIA AND PRIVATIZATION ! https://foxfoster.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/India-20991.mp4 It’s a very important topic in India because the government has decided to privatize many public sectors. What is privatization? It means the transfer of ownership, property, or business from the government to the private sector this is privatization, or we can simply say it’s a process in which a publicly-traded company is taken over by few people. What is the advantages of privatization? Improved efficiency. Lack of political interference. Short-term view. Increased competition(Quality work) Government will raise revenue from the sale Shareholders So, these are the major benefits of privatization, I can surely say it’s very difficult to develop without privatization, we can take the example of all developed countries, it definitely gives quality work, it can increase employment which is the major concern in India. It will generate revenue to the government etc. Since every coin has two sides, it has negative sides also which are: disadvantage of privatization It will lead to price hike problem from finance High-cost economy Bad industrial relations improper working opposition from employees. These are the some of the disadvantages of privatization, it will create a huge negative impact on government employees, which will result in improper working and stress among people. People will feel insecure about their job. But overall if we compare we will see problems can be sorted out and for development, privatization is very much required, but the main question arises. Are we really ready for privatization at the time? I think a big No since there are about 50 percent who are living below the poverty line, this is huge so if public sector like railways, petrol, Lpg and many such daily requirement companies will be privatized it will be very much unfair for these people, these are below the poverty line also there are huge in numbers who are the middle class who travel daily to work, so if these things will be privatized, prices will surely hike and these lower and middle-class people will suffer more and they will not able to save and hence poverty may increase for some years in India. But since for every development hard steps are required, So It Is necessary but it should be done after some years so that everybody should be comfortable with it. As someone said, “Privatisation is more efficient and effective in some cases, but not in intelligence”. So why not we should have patience and make it effective for everyone. What is the alternatives of privatization Across Europe, local authorities especially are reacting to private-sector failures or undue profit taking by thinking again. Public managers and politicians are starting to reconsider the notion that subcontracting is the answer to problems in public service management. Municipalisation…? Instead of privatization, municipalization is very much effective, though in India cities are already under the municipality, but still, there are many small cities where the municipality is needed, in cities where it is established they also need to be function properly and be active, it’s very very effective instead of privatization because it’s of public interest not private. For example in Paris water distribution was privatized after which private companies started taking a lot of money from the public for their own profit, it was so horrible that led the government to again unprivate water and give it to the public. So why we are in hurry to privatize instead we should focus on what we have and how to make it better? We should not neglect the capacity of government workers. Many people think that privatization is necessary to get quality work, but I want to stress at this point that government workers are also very much qualified and they have good knowledge of their work but what they lack is leadership, in the government sector, they are not fully motivated to do their work and they left their work for tomorrow, but by these things we cannot neglect their capacity though they give exams and compete with many to join the work, but still government sector is staggering to get best out of them, so it’s the total responsibility of government and also workers to get best and to give best, this should be improved. An ecologist, Garret Hardin, coined the phrase “the tragedy of the commons” in a (shockingly eugenicist) essay in science in 1968. But the free-rider problem that afflicts public goods has been well-known to economics for a century. Consider a pasture on which every herdsman may graze his cattle. Each has an incentive to use it as intensively as possible:  since it is open to all, restrain exercised by only herdsmen simply frees up grass to be chomped by another’s animals, leaving those who hold back worse off, not just relatively, but in absolute terms. The common pasture will inevitably end up overgrazed to the point of ruin. Many valuable public resources are similarly prone to overconsumption. Roadways become congested, waterways overfished and slices of the electromagnetic spectrum crowded into uselessness, to the detriment of total social welfare. Conclusion: Now, I hope you can understand how privatization has affected many cities and countries, but we should also consider that privatization is the only way to fast development but as we know the condition of India, in my opinion, we are not ready yet, so we should use the alternatives of privatization.
