Joe Biden celebrates one of the biggest receptions for Diwali in the White House

US President Joe Biden and First lady Dr Jill Biden hosted one of the biggest receptions ever in the White House.

Several Indian Americans attended the event in the East room, which has been a tradition from the George Bush administration.

“We are honored to host you. This is the first Diwali reception of this scale in the White House ever to be held. We have more Asian Americans than ever before in history and we want to thank you for making the Diwali celebration a joyous part of American culture," Biden, addressed the guests of the reception.

He further went on to wish people from Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists who celebrate the festival of lights all over the globe.

He also thanked the Asian Americans for their harmony, empathy, and courage and to make Diwali, a part of the American heritage.

First Lady, Dr Jill Biden addressed the nation, “With persistence, with faith, with love, I am grateful that today these diyas have guided you to this home. A home that belongs to all of you.”

All of the reception events took place with US Vice President, Kamala Harris, who remarked “White House is the people's house and together our president and first lady have made this place where every American can celebrate their honor and tradition.”

There were some enthralling entertainment and cultural performances with guests dressed in traditional ethnic wear and the dining hall filled with Indian cuisines.
